born from a forbidden union between a keeper of the moon huntress and a lupin warrior, lyra never truly belonged to either world. her mother, a miqo'te of the keeper of the moon clan, had fallen in love with a lupin wanderer—and given birth to a daughter. the two fled to the inbetween of doma and the steppe, living a quiet, secluded life tucked away in a forest.despite her mixed heritage, lyra was loved by both parents, taught to track prey like a keeper of the moon and to survive the wilds like a lupin. however, she always felt the tension between the two halves of her identity. her miqo'te side gave her intellect, curiosity, and a connection to the moon, while her lupin blood pulled her toward instinct, physical prowess, and the call of the wild. her family lived in isolation, shunned by both their own kind, but they made a simple life in the wilderness.this peace only lasted five years.when the Garlean Empire expanded its reach into Othard, forcing villages, tribes, and beastfolk alike to scatter or face annihilation. her father would fight for doma, as would her brothers, and disappear into the garlean empire not soon after. her mother tossed her daughter to the woods, and told her to run, and survive.so lyra ran, and lyra survived. bare feet padded tracks into the outskirts of doma, into the steppe where a child would become.. something different. something wild. something... feral and mad.
over the two decades, lyra was nothing more than a feral dog in the woods. her lupin instincts took over, guiding her through survival in the harsh lands between doma and the steppe. she became one with the wild, living more like a wolf than a human—hunting, scavenging, and evading both garlean patrols and local threats. her ability to shift between the two worlds—her human form and her lupin nature—was sharpened by necessity. her miqo'te intelligence kept her alive, while her lupin blood gave her the strength to endure.she grew to distrust people, seeing them as betrayers like those who had abandoned her family. the language of humans and miqo'te slowly faded from her mind as she communicated more through growls, body language, and animalistic instincts. she was a ghost in the wilderness, feared by those who spotted her—a wolf with a woman’s eyes, lurking in the shadows of war.
at the age of twenty five, a witch found fate waiting.a vicious fight with wolves. lyra lay torn to shreds and there, the astrologian witch finds her successor. untapped potential, the will to survive, the connection between nature and stars. it was fate, the witch knew and so she took lyra in. the woman who was more beast than human. at first, lyra more beast than woman, resistant to trust and unused to human contact, snapped and bite, fought to survive against the witch. but the witch was patient, offering warmth, food, and healing.
over time, she began to teach lyra the arts of healing and magic. no longer would she fight with claws and fists, and teeth like a wolf, but she would heal and warm like a lamb, and a sheep. slowly, the girl rediscovered her human side— though she yet still reads at a questionable level for the witch disappeared too soon into her teachings.
now she is searching for her mistress. she lives yet. the fates tell her so, and deep down, perhaps she searches for her siblings, and her father yet still but she doesn’t hold her breath.
kugane taught her that people will pay for anything, from pleasures of the flesh to readings of the stars, and got her to eorzea. now she’s not sure where she’s going but she knows what she’s looking for and that’s all she needs.
